Understanding Organisational Agility

In many cases you find that an established company that has had plenty of success in the past, reaches a plateau and struggles to shift and become more dynamic later on. Where there is constant change and development, as we are currently seeing across the world and in pretty much every industry due to Covid-19, there is a real need for company leaders to understand organisational agility and to look at how they can implement proactive change and be as flexible as is needed to establish an effective working pattern for all aspects of the business. Keeping employees happy is one step towards keeping customers happy, and organisational agility is an important part of this process in the modern-day workplace.

Organisational agility is where a company has the ability and leadership to allow itself to adapt and to change as quickly as possible when it is required due to the changing surroundings of the industry, specific customer issues, employee feedback or even greater issues as we are seeing right now with Covid-19 and the impact on all aspects of everyday life. By demonstrating that a company is agile, this does not necessarily mean that the company does not possess stability, in fact, the best companies can only be effective with organisational agility if there is a stable core to work from.

What is required within a company for organisational agility to work is the thought process that allows for fast and responsive measures wherever it is required and a platform that is solid enough to allow this without it impacting negatively on the general output of the company. With a stable anchor from which all aspects of an organisation works from, there is scope to change certain aspects and react in a fast and effective manner when something changes that requires the attention of the leadership of the company.

From the smallest companies right to the biggest, stability and agility can only ever be apparent if the leadership has created it, buys into it, and inspires the workforce to believe in it too. With a stable leadership core, any company can scale up and become organisationally agile, without this a company is fragile and at risk of suffering drastic reductions in performance and results at the slightest hiccup or change from the norm

Learning about organisational agility is the first step in a wonderful journey that business leaders go on when attempting to establish a bright future for a company. Building the foundation for organisational agility includes thought leadership and other avenues. Explore these issues and look at ways to develop and implement plans in an effective way that really chimes with the corporate culture, engages your employees and understands what needs to change in order for the company to continue on an upward trajectory. Working with experienced, dynamic and professional training providers can help you build solid leadership and a foundation of learning that goes a long way towards establishing the focus that you want moving forward.
